Re-authenticating Facebook and Instagram

If your Facebook or Instagram accounts become disconnected, or if Brand2Social requires new permissions or additional pages to be added, this guide walks you through how to resolve it. Re-authentication is quick and can be done directly from Brand2Social without needing to fully reconnect your account from scratch.


Why Re-authentication Is Needed

The most common reasons your Facebook or Instagram connection may stop working are:

  • Your access token has expired — tokens periodically expire as a security measure.
  • You changed your Facebook password — this immediately invalidates all active tokens.
  • Suspicious activity was detected on your Facebook account, causing Meta to revoke tokens.
  • Permissions were declined during a previous authorization flow.
  • New pages or groups have been created since the initial integration and need to be added.

How to Re-authenticate Facebook or Instagram

If posts are failing to deliver or your account shows as disconnected or expired, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your Brand2Social account.
2. In the left-side navigation menu, click on Integrations under the Social Accounts section.
3. Click on the Integrated Accounts subtab.
4. Locate the Facebook Page, Group, or Instagram account you want to re-authenticate.

5. Click the three dots button on the account tile.
6. Click Re-authenticate from the dropdown menu.

Brand2Social - Facebook reauthenticate 7. Complete the Facebook login flow — log in with the Facebook account that has admin access to the Page or Group, grant the requested permissions, and confirm your Page selections.

â„šī¸ Note: Re-authenticating refreshes your access token without removing the account from Brand2Social. Your scheduled posts and settings will remain intact.


How to Verify Permissions

If posts are still failing after re-authenticating, the issue may be missing or declined permissions. Brand2Social only requests permissions that are strictly necessary — if any are missing, the integration will not work correctly.

1. Log in to the Facebook profile that is the admin of the Page or Group.
2. Click the small drop-down arrow in the upper-right corner of Facebook and select Settings & privacy → Settings.
3. In the left-hand menu, click Business integrations.
4. Find Brand2Social in the list of authenticated apps and click View and edit.
5. Scroll through the permissions list and ensure all permissions are toggled on.
6. Click Save to apply any changes.

âš ī¸ Important: Every permission listed is required for Brand2Social to function correctly. Do not leave any permissions disabled, as this will cause certain features — such as post publishing or analytics — to stop working.


How to Add New Pages or Groups

If you have created new Facebook Pages or Groups since your initial integration, they will not appear in Brand2Social automatically. To add them, follow the same steps as the How to Verify Permissions section above.

When you reach the Brand2Social — View and edit screen in Facebook’s Business integrations:

1. Scroll to the Pages or Groups section.
2. Ensure that your new Pages or Groups are toggled on.
3. Make sure all permissions are granted for all Pages, Groups, and Instagram accounts you want to manage with Brand2Social.
4. Click Save to apply your changes.
5. Return to Brand2Social and verify that the new Pages or Groups now appear in your Integrated Accounts.

â„šī¸ Note: After saving in Facebook, it may take a moment for the new accounts to appear in Brand2Social. If they do not appear immediately, try refreshing the Integrations page.


Troubleshooting Common Issues

My account still shows as disconnected after re-authenticating

  • Make sure you completed the entire Facebook login flow, including granting all permissions and confirming your Page selections. Closing the window early will cancel the re-authentication.
  • Try re-authenticating again in a different browser or an incognito/private window.
  • Check that the Facebook account you logged in with is still the admin of the Page or Group.

My new Pages are still not appearing in Brand2Social after adding them in Facebook

  • Confirm you clicked Save after toggling on the new Pages in Facebook’s Business integrations screen.
  • Go to the Integrations page in Brand2Social, click the three dots next to your Facebook connection, and select Reauthorize to force a full refresh of your connected Pages.
